ROMANIAN GROUP OPENS FACTORY IN SERBIA

Teraplast group, the biggest PVC processor in Romania and one of the biggest local manufacturers of construction materials and installations, opened a sandwich panel factory in Serbia, on October 11.

Teraplast was founded in 1896 in Bistrita, northern Romania, as a ceramic tile production unit. Together with Teraplast SA, it is part of the Teraplast Group, whose plants are located in the same Industrial Park outside Bistrita, covering an area of over 200,000 square meters. The group is controlled by the Romanian entrepreneur Dorel Goia, which holds a 46.7% share, while the rest is owned by investors.

This is the first factory opened outside Romania by Teraplast after 1990 and fully owned by the Romanian company, the group added.

TeraSteel opening

The manufacturing facility TeraSteel , located in the southern Serbian city of Leskovac, has a production capacity of 2.2 million sq m of sandwich panels per year, Teraplast said in a press release and they are used in the construction of industrial buildings, such as halls, warehouses, shopping centres and cold stores.

Teraplast bought Serbian sandwich panel producer Interlemind and its factory for 4.3 million euro in June and has invested 2.7 million euro in equipping it with new production lines, and 4 million euro in work capital.

“Expanding the activity of the Teraplast Group in Serbia, with the opening of the Leskovac factory, is a new step in our process of development, in line with the group’s long-term objectives. In 2018, for TeraSteel Serbia, we aim at sales of around EUR 28 million, and in what regards the markets we serve, most panels made by the factory will go towards the Serbian market, but also towards exports in the Balkans,” Dorel Goia, president of the Teraplast council of administration said.

TeraSteel Serbia will mainly serve countries such as Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Bosnia, Croatia and Montenegro, as well as secondary markets such as Hungary, southern Romania and northern Greece.
